Trumpeter Rob Henke records, works, and tours with many New York City bands including Dr. Nerve, Gary Lucas’ Fast and Bulbous, The Spirit of Life Ensemble, Diane Moser’s Composer’s Big Band, Illuminati, the Walter Thompson Orchestra, and many others. He has toured the US and Europe extensively, having performed and/or recorded with Steven Bernstein, Dave Douglas, Ethan Iverson (The Bad Plus), Roswell Rudd, Tom Constantine (Grateful Dead), Anthony Braxton, as well as with vocalists Jenna Mammina and Catherine Russell. He has recorded numerous CD’s as a leader on Cuneform and M-cons East record labels and as a sideman on labels like Relix, Arista and Knitting Factory Records.
Guitarist Rolf Sturm has played on over 65 CDs, performing with and/or playing on CDs that feature Loudon Wainwright, David Johansen (NY Dolls), Jorma Kaukonen (Jefferson Airplane), Eddy Arnold (country singer), John Medeski and Billy Martin (MMW), Ethan Iverson (The Bad Plus), Roswell Rudd, Archie Sheep, Tony Trischka, Tom Constantine (Grateful Dead), Anthony Braxton, and vocalists Jenna Mammina and Catherine Russell. His guitar playing has earned the praise of Joe Pass, Jim Hall, John Abercrombie, and Bill Frisell. Rolf has toured throughout the US, Europe, and Mexico. Festivals include: the World Expo in Hanover, Germany, the JVC Jazz Festival, the Boston Folk Festival, the Syracuse Jazz Festival, Ripplefest, Music On The Mountain Festival, the Fillmore Jazz Fest, the San Pancho Music Festival, and the Toronto Jazz Festival. He has performed at Lincoln Center, and Town Hall in NYC, and at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC. He has appeared on soundtracks for both film and television and his music has been featured on National Public Radio’s All Songs Considered. His solo guitar recording, “Balance”, was awarded 4 stars in DownBeat magazine.
