ATMOSPHERIC FOLK-ROCK

Violet is Meredith Minogue (singer/songwriter/rhythm guitarist) and Jim Barry (songwriter/lead-guitarist/multi- instrumentalist). Their sound draws from rock and roll, folk-rock, 70’s singer-songwriters, new wave, country-blues and dream pop. It’s a bit like Buffalo Springfield, Tim Buckley and Gary Numan having a drink with the Pretenders while staring at a Marc Chagall painting.

Over the years, the band has played as an acoustic duo and with a full band at the CMJ Festival, Webster Hall, Knitting Factory, The Hamilton Park Concert Series, Pershing Circle Concert Series, Weehawken Day, Pete's Candy Store, Bowery Electric, and Warsaw. They hold an artist in residence at Espresso 77 in Jackson Heights, where they have developed a local following.
